Terms of service

These terms apply when you use AVTech, operated by AVTech (“we”). By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them. Please also read our privacy policy.

What AVTech is

AVTech is a directory and messaging service that helps clients find independent audio-visual technicians. We are not a party to any agreement between a client and a technician. Technicians are not our employees or agents, and we do not supervise, guarantee or take responsibility for their work, pricing, availability or conduct.

Accounts

• You must give accurate information and keep your password secure.
• You are responsible for activity on your account.
• You must be old enough to enter a binding agreement where you live.

Clients

Searching, viewing profiles and messaging technicians is free. Before hiring anyone, check their qualifications, insurance, licences and references, and agree the scope and price of work directly with them.

Technicians and listing fees

• Individual listings cost $4.99 USD a year and business listings cost $39.99 USD a year. Optional add-ons are charged yearly at the prices shown at checkout.
• Listings renew automatically each year until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your listing page; your listing stays live until the end of the period you have paid for.
• Fees are not refundable for part of a period, except where the law requires a refund.
• You are responsible for your own licences, insurance, tax and compliance with the law, including any electrical work rules where you operate.
• Your profile must be accurate. Do not claim qualifications, certifications or experience you do not have.

Acceptable use

You must not:

• Harass, threaten or abuse other users.
• Post false, misleading or unlawful content, or content you do not have the right to use.
• Send spam or use the site to advertise unrelated services.
• Ask other users to pay or move to another platform to avoid our fees, or attempt to scam them.
• Interfere with the site’s security or operation, or scrape it.

Moderation

We may remove content, hide listings or suspend accounts that break these terms or that we reasonably believe put other users at risk. Please use “Report this profile” to tell us about a problem.

Your content

You keep ownership of the content you post. You give us permission to display it on the site and in search results so that the marketplace works.

Liability

The site is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from work arranged through the site, from dealings between users, or from the site being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms and will show the date of the latest change at the top. These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
